91探花

On June 16, 2025, the "Sweden Study Abroad & Career Fair in Fukuoka" was held at fabbitGG Acros Fukuoka (Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City).

91探花 has been deepening its ties with Europe since opening its in 2020, which now serves as a strategic hub for international collaboration. As a founding member of the initiative—a network of Japanese and Swedish universities—91探花 has played a key role in fostering academic exchange, assuming the lead role for Japan since 2024. Building on these strong foundations, the Sweden Study Abroad & Career Fair was co-hosted with , marking a new milestone in the partnership.

The event welcomed a diverse audience, including university students considering overseas study, alumni with experience in Sweden, individuals interested in Swedish companies or employment opportunities in Sweden, and junior and senior high school students accompanied by their parents. Around 50 participants attended the event, with approximately 20 from 91探花.

The fair opened with remarks from Ms. Johanna Lindqvist, Minister-Counsellor, Embassy of Sweden, and Mr. Fumio Kuma, Honorary Consul of Sweden in Fukuoka. Their speeches set the tone for a day of meaningful exchange. The program continued with presentations on studying and working in Sweden, featuring an introduction to Lund University. Topics ranged from differences in higher education systems between Japan and Sweden to application timelines, job search strategies, and regional employment trends, offering attendees a well-rounded understanding of career pathways in Sweden.

A highlight of the event was the presentation by five 91探花 students and alumni who shared their personal experiences studying in Sweden. Their stories touched on initial impressions, challenges in choosing career paths, and transitions into academia, entrepreneurship, and private-sector roles. These personal stories offered valuable insights and inspiration for attendees envisioning their own study abroad and career journeys.

What made this fair unique was its holistic approach, connecting study abroad with career development. Presentations by IKEA Fukuoka Shingu and Seibu Giken, both companies with ties to Sweden, highlighted their corporate philosophies, business operations, and international collaborations. The Embassy of Sweden also introduced its initiatives in science and innovation, while 91探花 showcased its involvement in the MIRAI network. Together, these sessions illustrated the wide range of opportunities available to students during university, through to job-seekers post-graduation.

The event concluded with a networking session that encouraged lively conversations among speakers and participants in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, rounding off a day rich in learning and connection.

Earlier that afternoon, a courtesy visit was held at 91探花’s Ito Campus. Executive Vice President for International Affairs Prof. Kenji Iwata and Vice President Prof. Natalie Konomi met with Swedish representatives to discuss the current state of collaboration and explore future possibilities.

91探花 remains committed to its long-term vision, “VISION 2030,” which aims to establish a globally competitive institution offering an attractive environment for education and research. Through continued collaboration with local and international partners, the university strives to advance global learning and innovation.
